Staff members of the William Rand Kenan, Jr. Library of Veterinary Medicine are here to help veterinarians and veterinary technicians meet client information needs. We are happy to help your clients find high-quality resources relevant to their questions about animal health. Help your client ask the right questions or search the right terms. Make sure the name of the disease, drug, diagnostic test, or other item they are going to look up gets written down correctly in the office, and give them the Library's contact information. Together you and the client create a reminder of what they need to learn more about to take informed care of their animal.

We do not give medical advice and we always remind requestors to follow up with their veterinarians about any questions specific to their animal’s health care. When people tell us they were sent by their veterinarian, we know that they will work with you if they have further questions about whether the information we find together is useful.

We are open to the public (in person, phone 919-513-6218, email, and online chat). We respond acknowledging receipt of email questions within one business day, responses to in-depth questions may take longer to investigate. In person visitors will get the best service if they let us know in advance that they are coming.

Here is a sample of the type of reference help we can provide via our online chat service -- chat hours at the Veterinary Medicine Library are normally Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Chats at other times may go to other branches of the NCSU Libraries.
