Content Type: Events

We use the Events content type in Drupal to represent Libraries events. A "Libraries event" can either refer to official events scheduled by the Director of Community Engagement, or any event scheduled by any staff that is not considered a Workshop/instruction session.

How do I create an Event in Drupal?

  1. Log in to Drupal at lib.ncsu.edu/user
  2. In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Manage > Content
  3. Click the blue Add Content button
  4. Select the Events content type from the alphabetical list
  5. Fill out the Events fields in the editing form
  6. At the bottom of the editing form, select Draft (if you aren't ready for your Event to be publicly viewable yet) or Published (if you're ready for your Event to be publicly viewable) from the Save as dropdown
  7. Click the blue Save button to save your work

How do users discover Events in Drupal?

Event nodes are automatically displayed in several places on our website based on the values you enter for the When, Where, and Event  Series fields.

  • When - an upcoming Event node will be displayed on several pages, including the homepage and the Libraries News homepage
  • Where - an Event node will be displayed on the Space node associated with the value of this field
    • Example - Fishbowl Forum shows a list of upcoming Events taking place there in the right sidebar
  • Event Series - an Event node will be displayed on the Event Series page associated with the value of this field
    • Example - Making Space shows a list of Events that are part of this Event Series

If you'd like for your Event to be displayed on the main Library Events page, select the 'Promoted' checkbox.

If you'd like an artbox for your Event to be included in the artbox slider on our homepage and eboards, contact External Relations.
