Using the NC State University Libraries as a distance learner

The library has a rich collection of online information resources to support your academic research, including thousands of e-journals and hundreds of article databases. You can access any of these information resources via our website by logging in with your Unity ID and password.

Tripsaver: Request home delivery of books and web delivery of articles

If you find a book or journal online that we don't have, we will borrow it from another library and get it to you. The whole world of library collections is available to you. All you have to do is change your account status to Distance using the instructions on this page, and then fill out a Tripsaver request form.

E-Reserves

E-Reserves is an online collection of class readings, tests, and notes used by instructors to share materials with their students.

Ask Us! Librarians want to help you

Ask Us! Finding and using information can be challenging sometimes, and all library users have questions about making the most of online search tools or finding the right book or article for an assignment. Librarians are here to help you most of the day and night, seven days a week, via phone (toll-free), chat, and email.

If you are in the area, we'd love for you to visit. If not, there are many other libraries in the Triangle area and across North Carolina that you can use as an NC State student.

  • As a distance learner, you may not have the Wolfpack One ID Card that is used to check out books and to get into D. H. Hill Jr. Library and the James B. Hunt Jr. Library late at night.
  • You can get a Wolfpack One ID Card.
  • If you do not have a Wolfpack One ID Card when you visit the Libraries, please bring a photo ID (such as a driver's license). Staff at the Ask Us center can verify your status as an NC State student.
