Building Access & Facilities

Restrooms

Gender-Neutral Restrooms

A gender-inclusive, single-occupant restroom is located on the first floor, just past the elevators. (See map.)

ADA-Accessible Restrooms

All public restrooms in the Hunt Library are ADA-accessible.

Accessible Entrances

There are two entrances to the Hunt Library- one from Partners Way (on the first floor) and the other from The Oval entrance (on the second floor). More information can be found on the Getting to the Hunt Library page.

Elevators

There are elevators available for navigating to the upper floors from the second floor of the Hunt Library outside the library turnstiles and inside near the bathrooms.

Lactation Rooms

The James B. Hunt Jr. Library has an accessible lactation room. Access to the room requires an access code and is lockable from the inside.

Sensory Maps

Our sensory maps of the Hill Library are designed for users who are looking for study spaces that fit their sensory needs. The maps highlight spaces that have natural or warm lighting, tend to be quiet, or tend to be uncrowded.

Technology & Services

Assistive Technologies

Accessible technologies in the Hunt Library are available from Ask Us, located on the second floor. You can use these technologies whenever the Hunt Library is open. (See hours.)

No appointment is necessary, but you are welcome to request an orientation to the technology. Schedule an appointment with a library staff member by calling (919) 515-7110. Technologies include screen reading softwares, text-to-speech (literacy support) software, magnification software, scanning equipment, braille technology, and speech recognition software. A list of all assistive devices and assistive software is also available. 

Height-Adjustable Tables

Available in Group Study Rooms 2306, 3243, and 4512 (view reservation availability).

Book Retrieval

Patrons can request books from other research institutions through our TripSaver service. Books can also be placed on hold and retrived for pick-up from the Ask Us desk through a patron's Libraries account

Wheelchairs

The Ask Us desk on the second floor can provide a wheelchair while you are at the Hunt Library. Wheelchairs are available near the entrance gate on the second floor gate in a gray box. Feel free to call ahead so we can meet you at the entrance. Call 919-515-7110.
