There are also some negatives that depict the activities of the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service. North Carolina State University is a research-extensive, land grant institution located in Raleigh, North Carolina. Founded in 1887 as the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts under the auspices of the federal Morrill Act of 1862, the school held its first classes in the fall of 1889. As of 2014, NC State is one of the seventeeen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina system.
