Gaston Vance Jones was a student at North Carolina State College (now University) from 1918 until about 1920. He was in Leazar Literary Society, Pi Kappa Alpha, Tompkins Textile Society, and the Thalerian (also spelled Thalarian) German Club pictured in the photograph. Jones was from Newark, New Jersey.

Biographical/historical note

Gaston Vance Jones was a student at North Carolina State College (now University) from 1918 until about 1920. He was in Leazar Literary Society, Pi Kappa Alpha, Tompkins Textile Society, and the Thalerian (also spelled Thalarian) German Club pictured in the photograph. Jones was from Newark, New Jersey.

According to the 1903 Agromeck yearbook, the Thalarian German Club was formed from two existing clubs (the Old German Club and the Hoplite Club) in September of 1902. The club was mostly social in nature and organized many dances held at Olivia Raney Hall in Raleigh.
