Also included is information intended for students, such as brochures on housing options and resident programs, forms, guidelines and flyers. Materials range in date from 1934 to 2023. University Housing (formerly the Department of Housing and Residence Life) was created in the 1950s and placed at that time under the administration of the Division of Student Affairs. Since its inception, University Housing has undergone many transformations, including its latest during the 1990s, when committees met to re-evaluate the goals and purposes of University Housing.

MoreThe North Carolina State University, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, Wellness and Recreation Records contain the official website of NC State Wellness and Recreation. The first quasi-gymnasium of NC State was located in the basement of Holladay Hall. Carmichael Gymnasium was built in 1961. In 2007, the Carmichael Recreation Center was opened. In 2009, Campus Recreation and Carmichael Complex, Facilities, and Operations combined to become University Recreation, which was transformed into NC State Wellness and Recreation during the 2017-2018 academic year. It includes cardio and weight training rooms, indoor tracks, racquetball courts, steam and sauna rooms, table tennis rooms, a gymnastics training area, outdoor basketball courts, and 12 outdoor tennis courts. Overall, NC State Wellness and Recreation supports the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of students.

Brochures and pamphlets produced by the center include topics such as alcohol, disabilities, drugs, rape and sexual health as well as information regarding the center's services and insurance options for students. Materials range from 1966 (prior to the formation of the Student Health Service) until 1994. The North Carolina State University Student Health Service was formed in 1972. Initially, the university had an 80 bed care facility with staff and one part-time physician. The Student Health Center expanded to offer more on-campus care for students. Before the Student Health Service was formed, the university offered students a health insurance option which was overseen by the Student Health Service upon its formation.

The center produced yearly Advisers Handbooks as a resource for faculty serving as academic or vocational advisers to students. Some handbooks have been annotated by Counseling Center staff including William Weston and Murray Downs. Notices and brochures contained in these records pertain to student services offered by the center. The Counseling Center's offices were originally located in Holladay Hall until 1964 when they were moved to 207 Peele Hall. The Center moved in 1976 to a location at 200 Harris Hall. Materials in this collection range in date from 1935 until 1996. The North Carolina State College (later University) Counseling Center was originally located in Holladay Hall and was alternately called the Department of Counseling. Through the early days of the center's existence, the counseling center offered services for pre-college and enrolled students including entrance testing guidance, orientation events, financial aid assistance, vocational and educational guidance, social and personal guidance and special assistance for disabled, academically challenged and gifted students. In the early 1950s, the center promoted the idea of having health professionals on staff at the College. By the 1970s, a Health Center was established as a separate entity from the Counseling Center. As of 2013, the Counseling Center operates as an arm of the Student Health Center and focuses on personal, academic and vocational guidance for students.

They also include records of N. C. State’s Air Science and Tactics Department and the Military Science and Tactics Department. The North Carolina State University’s Reserve Officer’s Training Corp (ROTC) is a group of four campus programs, the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps which train officers of the United State armed forces in basic military and officer training. The ROTC has had a presence at the University since 1894 and is currently in conjunction with NC State University's Military Science Department.

The records document the activities of the theater and the performances sponsored by the theater from 1973 to 1997 and 2007-2008. These records have not been processed; however, they are arranged alphabetically by subject and then chronologically. Founded in the 1970s, Center Stage continues to bring the performing arts to the NC State community. As a subdivision of ARTS NC STATE, Center Stage sponsors events such as jazz concerts, dance performances, world music, theatre, and comedy. Each season coincides with the academic year.

MoreThe North Carolina State University, Division of Student Affairs, Student Media Authority Records contain budget and financial statements, contracts, correspondence, minutes, staff applications, layout and design information, and publications. There is also a large amount of photographic materials, including CDs, DVDs, photographic prints, negatives, contact sheets, and slides, most of which are from student photographers. The collection includes records of the Student Media Board, 1928-2008, the Agromeck office from 1909 to 2011, the Technician office from 1939 to 2011, the WKNC Radio Station from 1922 to 2006, the Windhover from 1928 to 2013, the Nubian Message from 2007 to 2009, and a small number of records, 1926-2022, from other publications. The Student Media Authority at North Carolina State University oversees creation of campus student publications at North Carolina State University, which include a yearbook, a daily newspaper, literary magazine, and African American student newspaper. It also oversees the student radio station, WKNC, and student television station, Wolf TV. The Publications Board was formed at North Carolina State College in or before 1933 to oversee creation of student publications. By 1937, it included representatives from student publications such as the Agromeck, Technician, Wataugan, Southern Engineer, and Agriculturist. By the late 1940s, it also included representatives from the student radio station WVWP. In the following decades, the organization continued to oversee the finances and leadership of student publications at North Carolina State University. It underwent various name changes, becoming known as the Student Media Board by the mid-2000s. As of 2010, Student Media is part of the Division of Student Affairs and is based in Witherspoon Student Center. It includes 220 paid and volunteer student positions.

Founded in 1951 as the College Union Board of Chairmen and renamed in the early 1970s, the Union Activities Board develops and carries out social and cultural programs for students. The mission statement specified in the Union Activities Board bylaws, as revised on 18 March 2013, was “For students by students, the Union Activities Board creates innovative activities that stimulate, motivate, educate, and involve the student body.“ Seven committees were chartered in the bylaws as revised on 18 March 2013: Black Students Board, Diviersity Activities Board, Films, Issues and Ideas, Late Night and Concerts, Leisure and Entertainment, and Marketing.

The records document the activities of the center from 1957 to 2010. The earliest documents included are placement reports produced by the engineering department's placement center prior to the formation of the Career Planning and Placement Center in 1964. The University Career Center placement reports and interview schedules include statistics on numbers of companies coming to campus to interview students and number of students gaining employment or internships. The North Carolina State University Career Center assists students in preparing for professional careers. The Center was founded in 1964 as the Career Planning and Placement Center as conceived by Chancellor John T. Caldwell who saw the need to have a central placement office to coordinate activities for the entire University. Prior to the formation of the central office, each department and school's placement office operated independently. In 1993, the name was changed to the University Career Center. The University Career Center works to provide programs including on-campus interviews, placement assistance, and other services across the university while also supporting departments and schools with individual needs.

Students can choose from all-you-can eat dining halls, several fast-food chains, convenience stores, and a restaurant. University Catering, a branch of University Dining, provides specialty food service to hundreds of functions throughout the North Carolina State University campus each year. Services offered by University Catering include breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, plated lunches and dinners, specialty menus, break services, and receptions.
