The records of the Women's Studies Committee at North Carolina State University span from 1981 to 1990, in addition to one document dated 1976. The papers include correspondence and other records, many of which are addressed to Lina L. Cofresi, who was integral in the success of the program. The correspondence and records are arranged chronologically in two folders. In addition to these folders, a file with collection of pamphlets, articles, and fliers, a folder of syllabi and course information, a file of newspapers and periodicals, and a folder of undated materials are included in the collection. The formation of a Women's Studies program at North Carolina State University seems to have been an interest as early as 1976, but its establishment does not appear to be pursued actively until the early to mid 1980s. Lina L. Cofresi, a faculty member at North Carolina State University, was essential to the founding of this program. Much of the correspondence included in the records is addressed to her. The first reference to the Women's Studies Curriculum Committee is, apparently, included in a note, addressed to professor Cofresi, and attached to course curriculum from 1986. The original intent of this group was to form a Women's Studies minor and learn about how to further incorporate Women's Studies into the University. The Women's and Gender Studies Program was established at North Carolina State University in 1989. A major in Women's and Gender Studies was added in 2006. This collection contains memoranda addressed to NC State deans, directors, and department heads, 1977-2007. These memos cover a variety of topics, and some also include supporting documents. There may be gaps in this collection because these memos have been pulled together from a variety of sources. Memos dated June 2007 and later are posted on the university's website. Since the 1970s NC State University administrators and administrative units have have communicated certain information for wide distribution through "Deans, Directors and Department Heads Memoranda." At some point these became known as "DDD Memos" and later as "3D Memos." While they cover a variety of topics, these memos have been, for the most part, notifications of changes in operations, procedures, and policies. Less

The North Carolina State University Entomology Department Drawings and Papers is principally a compilation of taxonomic illustrations of thousands of species of insects, 1967-1990. The illustrations are in a variety of media, mainly drawings and paintings, as well as photographs, negatives, and slides. They were produced by independent artists hired by the NC State University Entomology Department, members of the entomology faculty, and the United States Department of Agriculture. Most of the illustrations were executed for the Entomology Department in the 1970s by five primary artists. This collection also contains entomological publications, 1973-2000, primarily of the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service (later Cooperative Extension Service), edited and authored by James R. Baker. These publications are mainly pest control manuals, as well as copies of a pest control informational serial. Also included is early professional correspondence of Baker regarding entomological publications and taxonomy, 1966-1975. The illustrations in the North Carolina State University Entomology Drawings and Papers, depicting thousands of species of insects and their taxonomy, were created or collected by the NC State University Entomology Department from 1967 to 1990. James R. Baker (1941- ) was curator of the collection during his career as researcher and professor of entomology at the university from 1972 to 2000. Less

The North Carolina State University Department of Entomology used these films for instruction related to pest control. These were produced by a variety of educational film production companies. This collection consists of 16mm film reels and 1/4" audio tapes, the majority of which were used by Dr. Charles Wright in his classes. Most of these films relate to pest control through chemical agents, but there are several items on other topics. Less

Collection contains reprints, reports, correspondence, and memos relating to various plant diseases, primarily relating to tobacco. Plant pathology at North Carolina State University, like much of the current College of Agriculture and Life Sciences curriculum, grew out of work done by the North Carolina Experiment Station. During the 1890s, occasional classes in plant pathology were taught as a part of the Horticulture curriculum, and work was also performed in cooperation with the Experiment Station. Coursework devoted entirely to plant pathology did not begin until the 1901-1902 school year, with the creation of the Biological Division and the appointment of F. L. The North Carolina State University, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, Department of Performing Arts and Technology Records contain office files, audio recordings of various performances made by groups associated with the Music Department, programs from performances, news releases and newspaper clippings, and files pertaining to the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild. Materials range in date from 1901 to 2023. The Department of Music provided educational and performance opportunities for student and community participants through a variety of musical experiences and academic courses. The records of the North Carolina State University Gregg Museum of Art and Design contain correspondence, memoranda, acquisition paperwork, notes, newsletters, newspaper articles, brochures, and exhibition catalogs documenting the activities and exhibits offered by the museum from 1964 to 2023. Also included are the records of former director Charlotte Vestal Brown, including her daybooks, correspondence, meeting minutes, and work with the Friends of the Gallery (now known as Friends of the Gregg). The Gregg Museum of Art and Design is a collecting museum at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC that operates under the Division of Student Affairs. The Gregg’s collecting focus reflects the mission of North Carolina State University and supports its academic programs by providing research opportunities for NC State University students and the citizens of North Carolina and beyond. The collection includes, but is not limited to, textiles, ceramics, outsider/folk art, photography, architectural drawings and modern furniture. The Gregg Museum of Art and Design also puts on 6-8 exhibitions per year in its two galleries, in addition to exhibiting work at various places in the Talley Student Center and around campus. The North Carolina State University, Division of Academic and Student Affairs, TRIO Programs Records contain the official website of TRIO Programs, as well as the website of the Upward Bound program. The TRIO Programs are federal student services programs aimed to support all Americans from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend college. These programs are funded under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and initially included three programs: Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services. Over time, however, the number of the programs reached eight. Overall, TRIO assists people from low-income households, first generation college students, and individuals with disabilities in their path from middle school to postbaccalaureate programs. Upward Bound is one of the TRIO programs designed to prepare students for higher education. It brings high school students to college campuses after school, on the weekends, and during the summer to receive instruction in a variety of fields. The University Honors Program engages academically-motivated students in transformative experimental learning during their college careers. The first quasi-gymnasium of NC State was located in the basement of Holladay Hall. Carmichael Gymnasium was built in 1961. In 2007, the Carmichael Recreation Center was opened. In 2009, Campus Recreation and Carmichael Complex, Facilities, and Operations combined to become University Recreation, which was transformed into NC State Wellness and Recreation during the 2017-2018 academic year.
