The Sharon Curtin Papers, 1964-2020, contain photographs, newsclippings, notes, correspondence, and other materials primarily documenting the NC State University campus and the Department of Poultry Science. There is some information on Poultry Science faculty members and staff. Also included is a book that Curtin wrote about growing up near Weaverville, North Carolina, and photographs and a DVD showing her husband, Terrence M. Curtin, in 2020. Diane Sharon Saunders was born in Weaverville, North Carolina, in 1942. She came to NC State University in the 1960s and worked as a research technician in the Department of Poultry Science labs under Dr. Pat B. Hamilton for many years. From 1981 to 1986, she was in the microbiology lab of the College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1987, she married Dean Terry of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Less

The Triangle Greenways Council Records consists of documents and other materials related to the operation of the organization. This collection contains meeting minutes and reports from the Triangle Greenways Council Board, bylaws of the organization, project proposals, information about properties held by the organization, Triangle Greenways Council newsletters, and documents on related organizations like the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Also included are documents and other materials on greenways in North Carolina and around the United States. Materials date from 1974 to 2023. The Triangle Greenways Council is a volunteer organization dedicated to expanding and promoting the use of greenways in the Triangle Region of North Carolina. Primarily, the Council acquires private and public land through donations and grant-funded purchases for new greenway spaces, to date acquiring and preserving over 750 acres of undeveloped land. Working closely with local municipalities and governments, the Council helps with the placement of new trails and greenway facilities. The Council also implements public service projects, and continues to educate communities through outreach programs like seminars and festivals. Less

The Vegetarian Resource Group Records contain journals about vegetarianism, nutrition, ecology, ethics, animal rights and world hunger. Materials are dated from 1982 to 2023. The Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public on vegetarianism and the interrelated issues of health, nutrition, ecology, ethics, and world hunger. Collection contains publications, correspondence, reports, brochures, promotional literature, photographs and slides, and research announcements pertaining to issues concerning ground water, its quality, contamination, and related problems. Records include a proposal to form the Institute (1963). The Water Resources Research Institute identifies and supports research needed to help solve water quality and water resources problems in North Carolina and the region. It also provides information on water-related issues through its publications, conferences, workshops, seminars and the WRRI-News electronic list. The collection is mainly comprised of digital files (JPGs) created by scanning photographic prints and negatives held by Synergetics, Inc. The original prints and negatives that were scanned date primarily from 1960-1972, but images from later decades also exist here. The originals were also primarily black-and-white, although some later ones are in color. The images depict models of projects, buildings, and structures designed and/or constructed by Synergetics, Inc. Some images are construction shots. Many of the original photographs were taken by Ralph Mills, who had been contracted by the company. Images were scanned by Bill Ballenger in 2005-2006, with the permission of Synergetics, Inc. president T. C. Howard. The collection also includes a small amount of the firm's promotional literature, a few magazines that contain articles about Synergetics, Inc., and a poster celebrating the life of T.C. Howard. Synergetics, Inc., was an architecture and engineering firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The company was originally established by R. Buckminster Fuller in 1955, but it was later headed by James W. Fitzgibbon and then T. C. Howard. The company designed and constructed commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, and it developed " . . . systems and structures employing geodesic, tensegrity, and related principles of design, fabrication, and construction." Among the structures designed or constructed by Synergetics, Inc. are the Climatron at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the Churchill Pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair (now the Queens Zoo Aviary), and the Tower of Light at the 1964 World's Fair.
