George Franklin Hackney (1905-1997) graduated from North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) in Architectural Engineering in 1927 and opened an architectural firm in Durham, North Carolina, focusing on high end residences. He later taught at Duke University. He initially partnered with Charles Knott, and later continued his practice as Sears, Hackney, Keener, and Williams.
