Data Storage

Storage options available for the NC State University community are overseen by NC State’s Office of Information Technology (OIT). Please refer to OIT’s Data Management Framework for more information.

• Use the "Data Elements and Categories" section for guidance on determining the classification level of your data.
• The "Data Storage" section provides information about the approved locations to store university data by classification.

Each NC State researcher may obtain an allocation of research data storage to use during their employment at NC State University. PIs for awarded grants may also request research data storage space for the grant based on the storage requirements as described in the grant’s data management plan. Please see OIT’s Research Storage web page for additional information, including a link to log in to the research data portal, which provides details about how to grant computer and user access in the upper right hand corner under the "storage" tab.
