About This Workshop

The workshop will begin by discussing the advantages of different document creation resources to explore the possibilities of using open source technology.

Do you find creating templates and formatting for your work clunky and time consuming? Do you find yourself frequently needing to insert graphics created in Python or R? This workshop will combine the powers of Overleaf (built for LaTeX), R, and GitHub to streamline creating manuscript-like documents. At the end of Part 1, you will have linked RStudio, Github, and Overleaf, and have (hopefully) a new appreciation for using open source workflows for all stages of your science.

Speaker Bio: Kate is a PhD student in the Center for Geospatial Analytics. Her research focuses on socio-ecological dimensions of wildland fire, from managing wildfires to planning prescribed fires. Prior to returning for her PhD, she worked as a research scientist in a geospatial analysis and visualization lab. Her interests include data analysis and tool development to assist landscape-scale management decisions.
