About This Workshop

MATLAByrinth, is a series of 3 comprehensive workshops on MATLAB aimed at beginners in scientific research. Participants will learn about using tools available in MATLAB for modeling complex scientific problems. The second workshop, “MATLAByrinth Part 2: Algebra, Calculus and Plotting” is recommended for those who have a little background in programming, but need a head start in solving complex mathematical problems using algebra and calculus for their coursework and/or academic research. In this session, various techniques for evaluating polynomials, interpolation, curve fitting, basic plotting, integration, differentiation, and solving ordinary differential equations will be discussed in length with various examples. The session will end with utilizing the concepts learned to model two real-life scenarios, followed by a short quiz to briefly revisit what was taught. Users attending this workshop are expected to be familiar with basics of MATLAB programming especially matrix operations, math functions in MATLAB, and writing user-defined functions. PLEASE NOTE: It is not required to take all 3 workshops!
