Orientation to the Studios

The Studios are a suite of services, spaces, and expert help. 

Most of our spaces have specialized equipment and require an orientation before you can use them.

Makerspace

The orientation to the Makerspace is a short, self-paced, online course that you sign up for in REPORTER:

Makerspace orientation

This orientation is required to use the Makerspace in the D. H. Hill Jr. Library. It will provide a general introduction to the space, best practices and for its use, and importantly, an introduction to potential hazards, protective equipment, and other aspects of safe Makerspace use. After completing the online orientation and a brief in-person section, attendees will be given card access to use the Hill Makerspace during open hours.

Digital Media Spaces

Spaces include: The Studio, Audio Booths, Audio Rooms, Media Studio

The Digital Media orientation is a self-paced online form:

Digital Media Spaces orientation

The orientation is required to reserve one of our digital media spaces at both Hunt and Hill. It is not required to use the computers in the open-seating spaces.  

The orientation provides a general overview of the spaces, hours, access, technology, consultation options, including in-person meetings and LinkedIn Learning. 

Gaming and VR Studio and Live Capture Studio

The orientation to the Gaming and VR Studio and the Live Capture Studio is a short, self-paced, online course that you sign up for in REPORTER:

Gaming and VR Studio and Live Capture Studio orientation

This orientation is required to use the Gaming and VR Studio and the Live Capture Studio in the D. H. Hill Jr. Library. It will provide a general introduction to virtual reality and the basics of 3D scanning and photogrammetry. At the end of the orientation, attendees may sign a waiver allowing them to use the Gaming and VR Studio during open hours.
