Shout-outs From My Colleagues

I'm grateful to the complex and conscientious work of the Collaborative and Remote Work Task Force (CRWTF). They created outstanding guidance that is so well-organized and accessible! I revisit the Confluence pages on a regular basis, and consider them one of the most important foundations for our work. The guidance, tips, and examples for conducting hybrid meetings, setting up and implementing the onboarding process, and the advice for team building are incredibly helpful for all of us, most especially middle managers and project managers. The meeting free days and TL;DR summaries in each section of the guidance documentation represent the intentionality and care put into this work by this amazing team. Thank you to Hillary Fox, Kevin Beswick, Robin Davis, Mia Partlow, Lynn Whittenberger, and Jennifer Garrett for supporting our work through the Collaborative and Remote Work Task Force (CRWTF).

I would like to shout-out to my team, the Monographs Unit of A&D department, Renee Smith-Davis, Flora Blackley, Rob Loomis, Terri Chance and Zorica Craciun, for all they have had to endure this last year. These folks took to their work at home as if they had been doing it all along. There were enormous challenges, lots of new workflows, keeping up with Zoom, computer issues and the struggles of communication, or lack there of. And with the focus on electronic exploding there were plenty of e-related projects to ensure access, especially for open access, notifications to faculty as soon as their request was accessible, more and more streaming orders and plenty of print for Reserves that all needed hands on cataloging. The volume for these materials has not yet dropped as in normal years so they all continue to order and pay and catalog and absorb the new changes that come their way, but the remoteness is still a struggle. Credit certainly goes to our Unit Head, Lynn Whittenberger, who provides amazing caring and support to all of us, no matter what the need. Thanks also to our ERL Yan Song for lending support and guidance through much of the electronic work. I am very fortunate to be part of this unit and department. Ruth
