Letter from Albert Einstein to Raimond Struble, 1947 Nov. 5

The Special Collections Research Center is excited to announce the acquisition of a new collection featuring correspondence with Albert Einstein! The Raimond Struble Correspondence With Karl Menger, John T. Tate, and Albert Einstein contains a typed letter with handwritten notes from Einstein when he was a professor at Princeton to Raimond Struble, who was a graduate student at Notre Dame. Struble went on to become professor of mathematics at NC State from from 1958 to 1987. The letters discuss observations of binary stars that support Einstein's theory of special relativity and refute theories of physicist Walther Ritz.

Read more about the story of the letters and how they came to NC State here.

The collection has been digitized in its entirety and can be accessed on Special Collections' Rare and Unique Digitized Collections site.
