About This Event

Join us for a discussion about this award-winning memoir from sixteen-year-old Dara McAnulty, a globally renowned figure in the youth climate activist movement. In between lyrical descriptions of encounters with blackbirds, hen harriers, frogs, dandelions, bats and Irish hares, he offers insights into the everyday struggles of a teenager living with autism. To lead our discussion, we are thrilled to bring back Dr. Holly Menninger, currently the interim director of the Bell Museum, Minnesota’s official natural history museum and planetarium. Read Smart is a collaboration with the Wake County Public Libraries. Copies of the book are available for checkout from Wake County Public Libraries; or as an e-resource from the NC State University Libraries, for those with a unity ID.
