A great institution like NC State is supported by great research libraries. By giving to the NC State University Libraries, you ensure that our students and faculty have access to the most innovative and advanced learning spaces in the country.

You can make a secure online donation anytime, and even choose a specific fund or endowment to support.
You can also make a gift by check. Please make donations by check payable to "Friends of the Libraries" with the gift allocation indicated in the memo field. Checks may be sent to:

- Stocks & Mutual Funds
View stock transfer instructions. Gifts of securities may allow for tax benefits for the donor by bypassing capital gains taxes and providing an income tax deduction. Gifts of appreciated securities held for more than a year are generally deductible at current market value, regardless of the purchase price.

- Gifts of Real Estate
Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch or commercial property can make a great gift to our organization.
- Gifts of Retirement Assets
Naming the Libraries as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent, tax-advantaged way to make a gift. Learn more about giving retirement assets.
- Gifts of Insurance
A gift of your life insurance policy is an excellent way to make a gift to charity. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults. Learn more about gifts of insurance.
Endowments
Endowments are permanent, named funds that generate on-going income to support an area of need at the Libraries. Name an endowment for yourself, or honor or memorialize a family member or friend. For more information on establishing an endowment, please contact Jeremy Allen at jnallen4@ncsu.edu.
Endow a Libraries scholarship
Every year, a college degree gets more expensive. The rising cost of higher education can compromise a student’s success. At NC State, where nearly 10% of incoming students come from households with incomes below the poverty level, students need all the help they can get.
That’s where you come in. The NC State University Libraries employs more than 250 student assistants, many of whom have great need for financial assistance. Thanks to generous donors like you, the Libraries is now able to offer scholarships to student workers. An endowed Libraries Student Scholarship will reward our outstanding student assistants and reduce the financial burden of their education in perpetuity.
Endow a collections fund
Collections endowments are permanent, named funds that generate ongoing income to support purchase of materials for an area of the Libraries' collections, including University Archives. You can name a collections endowment for yourself, or to honor a family member or friend. Preservation, conservation, acquisition of materials, and unrestricted use are just a few ways these endowments benefit the Libraries.Endow unrestricted support
Unrestricted endowments provide versatile, undesignated support for the Libraries in perpetuity that will be used for the Libraries' top priorities. Many donors choose to endow their annual support for the Libraries through a gift in their will or retirement plan, so that their philanthropic support will continue long after they are gone.

How to Give
- Bequest
You designate the North Carolina State University Foundation, Inc. and University Libraries as the beneficiary of your asset by will, trust or beneficiary designation form. Learn more about bequests.
- Donor Advised Fund
You fund a DAF and make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. You can also establish an NC State Donor Advised Giving Fund that allows you to create your own giving fund to use for all your charitable contributions, with a portion dedicated especially for NC State.
- Charitable Remainder Unitrust
You transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund a charitable remainder unitrust. The trust sells your property tax free today and provides you with income for life or a term of years. Learn more about a charitable remainder unitrust.
- Charitable Gift Annuity
You transfer your cash or stock to the North Carolina State University Foundation, Inc. and University Libraries in exchange for our promise to pay you fixed payments (with rates based on your age) for the rest of your life. Learn more about a charitable gift annuity.
- Beneficiary Designation Gifts
You can designate the North Carolina State University Foundation, Inc. and University Libraries as a beneficiary of a retirement investment, bank account, life insurance policy, or as the beneficiary of your donor advised fund. Learn more about beneficiary designation gifts.
- IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
Congress has enacted a permanent IRA charitable distribution. As a result you can make an IRA rollover gift this year and in future years. If you are at least 70 ½ you can direct any amount, up to $100,000 a year from your IRA directly to the Libraries. This amount can help satisfy any required minimum distributions that you may have, and serves as a tax free distribution. Learn more about IRA qualified charitable distributions.

Name a space in the Libraries
Naming opportunities allow donors to support the NC State University Libraries in a meaningful way and to receive permanent recognition in the attractive learning spaces of the D. H. Hill Jr. Library, the James B. Hunt Jr. Library, and the branch libraries. Naming opportunities range from $25,000 to over $2,000,000.
