Today’s world needs more low-carbon power than ever before. Advanced Small Modular Reactors (ASMRs) have emerged as a key part of the federal government’s strategy to combat climate change and strengthen energy security.
If you’re unfamiliar with ASMRs, they are innovative nuclear reactors, far smaller than a traditional power plant, yet capable of generating up to 300 megawatts of electricity - enough to power approximately 230,000 homes a year. But what are the wider advantages of ASMRs? How can they contribute towards meeting our future cleaner energy needs and should the general public hold concerns over them?
Joining us for a panel discussion will be special guests, including from NC State’s Colleges of Engineering and Natural Resources, Duke Energy and the Idaho National Lab to discuss the role ASMRs look set to play as we think about our future cleaner energy needs.
