How do I use NC State's High-Performance Computing (HPC)?

What is the HPC?

Consider using High-Performance Computing (HPC) if you can’t perform your research in a reasonable amount of time with the resources you have on hand. NC State HPC provides students and faculty with entry– and medium-level high-performance research and education computing facilities, consulting support, and scientific workflow support.

Getting Started

Introduction to HPC

Request access

  • Any faculty member can request a project on the HPC at no charge. Faculty may also request a temporary HPC Project specific to a course number and section.
  • Graduate students, postdocs, and other collaborators must be added to a project by the faculty PI.
  • If you are an undergraduate or non-thesis master's student, and you are not working in a research group with a faculty advisor, and you are not registered for a course using the HPC, you can apply for trial access through an arrangement with the Libraries.
