About This Event
Dr. David Zonderman of NC State’s Department of History will lead a discussion of this Pulitzer Prize-winning work that demonstrates the scope of Frederick Douglass’ influence through deep research on his writings, his intellectual evolution and his relationships. Dr. Zonderman will be focusing on the following parts of the book; the Introduction, Chapters 7, 13-15, and 17-22, which cover Douglass' rise as an abolitionist speaker and the Civil War.
The book was selected as one of The New York Times Book Review’s 10 Best Books of 2018. Blight will be the featured speaker during NC State’s History Weekend on October 5.
Read Smart is a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and Cameron Village Regional Library.
