What are the options for guests to use computers in the libraries?
You are considered a guest if you are in not in one of the following categories:
- NC State University student, staff or faculty member
- NC State University Affiliate with a borrower ID
- Student, staff, or faculty member at Duke University, a UNC-system university, or a Cooperating Raleigh College institution
For a full list of affiliates or other memberships, visit the Patron Types page.
Your own laptop: guest wifi
Guests may bring in laptop computers and connect to the campus's Guest Wireless network. The guest wireless does not provide access to databases and e-journals licensed by NC State University Libraries, except for users who can log in with a Unity ID or Library Borrower ID.
Only students, faculty, and staff of NC State University can check out a library laptop.
Desktop computing: catalog lookup and select research needs
The Libraries do not provide general computing facilities to those other than Unity ID holders.
We do provide access to several kiosks for catalog searching, and two computers with limited web access for the purpose of accessing NC State University Libraries electronic collections, including databases and e-journals.
For general access to computing, please visit the Oberlin Regional Library.
Printing: unavailable for guests
Only NC State University students, staff and faculty are able to print to library printers from personal laptops.
Access to online resources
For information regarding access to online resources, visit the How can I access journal and database subscriptions if I'm not an NC State student, staff or faculty? FAQ.
