Writer, comedian, and “Daily Show” actor John Hodgman visits NC State with his new book, Vacationland: True Stories from Painful Beaches, on Monday, Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duke Energy Hall at the Hunt Library. Hodgman will be talking with John Darnielle, lead member of the Mountain Goats and author of Universal Harvester.

This free program is a co-presentation of the NCSU Libraries and Quail Ridge Books.

Publishers Weekly calls Vacationland “mordant, off-kilter comedy” and Hodgman himself describes the book to NPR as being about “the mere awful truth of my life, which is that I am a strange, white, male monster with bad facial hair staring down what I hope is the second half of my life, much of which takes place in the painful beaches of coastal Maine and New England.”

You will receive up to two admission/signing line tickets with a Quail Ridge Books purchase of Vacationland. Books may be ordered online, by phone: 919-828-1588, by email:  orders@quailridgebooks.com or in the store.

Hodgman’s appearance is co-sponsored by the NC State Friends of the Library.
