Libraries leads SECC giving

The NCSU Libraries achieved the highest participation rate of any campus unit in the 2016 State Employees Combined Campaign. We turn out to be a very generous lot! Fully 65% of library staff contributed—that’s 113 of 174 staff members—a total of $26,575, which is a 21% increase over our 2015 dollar total. To compare, NC State overall had a 23% participation rate. Undesignated Libraries donations were split between two winning charities drawn from a pool of suggestions: The ACLU of NC Legal Foundation and Meals on Wheels of Wake County.

Jill Sexton, this year’s campaign leader for the Libraries, was “blown away” by her colleagues' generosity. “I feel proud to work in a place where people are engaged with their communities and want to support the causes they care about,” she says.

The statewide campaign ran from Oct. 24 to Nov. 18 and offered 996 statewide charities to choose from. All told, the 2016 campaign brought in $3,879,135 (up 3% over 2015) from 19,379 state employees (14% of the state workforce of 135,660).

Congratulations and hefty thanks to this year’s Libraries team captains for their help and support in running the campaign. Thanks also to Julia Reynolds and Brian Pugsley for coordinating the collection of paper forms at Hunt and at Hill.
