A Fast Ride with America’s Cowboys from History to Myth

NCSULA is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Slatta, professor of history at North Carolina State University, will present a talk, “A Fast Ride with America’s Cowboys from History to Myth,” on Wednesday, November 17, at 11 a.m. in the Assembly Room of D. H. Hill Jr. Library.

Using a blend of historical paintings and photographs, he will explore how the cowboy moved from the pages of history, as a low-paid, migrant ranch hand, to prominence in American popular culture and mythology. The audience will have the opportunity to try to identify several iconic images of the American cowboy.

NCSULA’s mission is to provide members with professional enrichment opportunities. Please join us for our first talk of the fall to learn more about faculty research at NC State. This event is free and open to all NCSU Libraries staff.
