About This Event

Visualization, which translates opaque data into much more accessible visuals, was developed by researchers as a tool for creating meaning. In today’s media, visualization is being used to communicate meaning. Does visualization in fact improve communication? How can it be used most effectively to persuade? How should it be improved to serve this new use? In this presentation Dr. Ben Watson, associate professor of computer science at NC State, will discuss examples, tools and research that help answer these questions. Watson is an expert in visualization, user experience, user interfaces, computer graphics and virtual reality. At NC State, he leads the NexUX collective and the Visual Experience Lab.
