North Carolina Architects and Builders
User interface and search system for digital publication
Overview
Originally conceived as a print publication, the North Carolina Architects and Builders: A Biographical Dictionary project is the first product of the Office of Digital Publishing. DLI developed the interface, search system, and back end data processing infrastructure.
How We Did It
The project features a faceted search interface powered by solr, an open source search tool. Solr is used to index and search XML documents that contain the project data. The project uses XSLT to render many of its project pages. jQuery and YUI help to provide a contemporary user experience.
