Orcutt’s paranormal course featured in Technician

The truth is out there, every Tuesday and Thursday this spring.

In November, Technician published a feature on Darby Orcutt, Assistant Head of Collections & Research Strategy, and “Science, PSI, Sasquatch, and Spirits,” the class on the paranormal he is teaching this spring. Orcutt plans instruction on how to use scientific methods to explore topics that are not generally considered part of mainstream science.

“The best way to frame this class is a cultural studies course,” Orcutt told Technician. “It is a humanistic approach to science. While at times we use a humanities or social science lens to look at the subject matter, we are doing so by embedding ourselves in scientific practice.”

In past semesters, Orcutt has taken classes to haunted sites with EMF readers as well as to the Cryptozoology and Paranormal Museum in Littleton, NC.
