Anne Burke and David Tully presented a poster about the Libraries’ foray into Snapchat at the 2018 Teaching and Learning Symposium, winning an honorable mention. The winning poster was called “Oh Snap! How four thirty-something librarians conquered the world's most confusing social media app to revitalize the library scavenger hunt.” Overall, the Libraries was well represented at the symposium, with three posters and a promotional table.

Burke and Tully wrote of their work: “By utilizing the popular social media app, Snapchat, as the new technical foundation for the Libraries' Scavenger Hunt, we have breathed new life into the activity. An additional bonus has been the opportunity to connect new students to the Libraries' social media stream early in their academic careers... A key learning objective of the Scavenger Hunt is to expose our participants to the research tools and resources available via their libraries. We believe that the positive experiences our participants enjoy during the activity will foster student success by informing and encouraging them to utilize the libraries as they embark upon their academic careers.”
