Garrett appointed Associate Director for Organizational Design, Equity, and Talent

Jennifer Garrett has been appointed Associate Director for Organizational Design, Equity, and Talent.

Garrett will provide vision and leadership for the Libraries’ comprehensive human resources program, including talent acquisition and management; equity, diversity, and inclusion; and professional development. She will oversee the work of Libraries Human Resources in employee recruitment, onboarding, training and development, leadership and management development, succession planning, performance management, and change management initiatives. She will advance and provide leadership for a wide range of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, and for the Libraries Fellows program, our nationally renowned post-masters residency. As a member of the Libraries’ senior administrative team, she will participate in library planning, policy development, resource allocation, and personnel management, will serve on university committees, and will represent the Libraries in regional and national forums.

Garrett has served most recently as the Libraries’ Director of Talent Management, developing and implementing initiatives to recruit and retain a highly qualified and diverse workforce, and playing a key role in equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. Prior to this, she held the positions of Head of Digital Research Education and Training; Research Librarian for Management, Education, and Social Sciences; and Libraries Fellow at the NC State University Libraries. She is a leader in professional organizations including the Association of Research Libraries and is a recipient of numerous awards and fellowships. She holds the Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of British Columbia and the Bachelor of Arts in History, Political Science, and Religious Studies from the University of Oregon.
