Eskridge to lead the recently created Data and Visualization Institute for Librarians.

The Data and Visualization Institute for Librarians was created by the NCSU Libraries in partnership with the Odum Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Institute offers an intensive, customized professional development curriculum for subject specialists and other librarians working in emerging research life-cycle services such as visualization, data science, bibliometrics, and content and data mining.  The NCSU Libraries piloted this unique learning model as a week-long short course in October 2015 and will extend this opportunity nationally and internationally in 2016 by offering the Institute to librarians across North America.

In her capacity as the Institute’s Director, Eskridge will lead its planning and delivery, coordinate curriculum development, oversee participant application and selection processes, and direct and facilitate the Institute’s public launch.  She will also coordinate the creation of the public website and supporting materials for the Institute.

Eskridge brings an extensive background working with researchers to enhance their scholarship, develop creative approaches to teaching, and improve and demonstrate their research productivity. As Director of Centennial Campus Research Services, she leads the Libraries’ efforts to work with faculty and graduate students in the Colleges of Engineering and Textiles, coordinates subject specialist services for those constituencies, directs services for Centennial Campus Partners, and provides research services at the award-winning James B. Hunt Jr. Library.  A graduate of the UCLA Senior Fellows and the Leadership Institute for Academic Librarians at Harvard University, Eskridge has published and presented in the areas of information literacy, library management, and user research.  She holds a bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College and a master of library and information science from Catholic University of America.
