Davidson, Casden promote Open Source with article

Bret Davidson and Jason Casden recently published an article entitled “Beyond Open Source: Evaluating the Community Availability of Software” in Issue 31 of the Code4Lib Journal. Their article proposes extending the existing open source values of collaboration and transparency to include the wide and affordable distribution of software and argues that relatively privileged institutions have a responsibility to support the adoption of their innovations to encourage broad, representative participation across the spectrum of cultural heritage institutions. They also presented a talk by the same name at the Library Information Technology Association Forum in Minneapolis, MN in November 2015. http://journal.code4lib.org/articles/11148
