Claire Ruswick joins NC LIVE as Assistant Director

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Claire Ruswick as NC LIVE Assistant Director, effective 8 August 2016.

As Assistant Director, Ruswick will help lead the delivery of NC LIVE programs and services that amplify the impact North Carolina libraries have on their communities. Ruswick will work with member libraries to assess, advise, and measure the success of new initiatives designed to increase resource usage; more tightly integrate various e-collections; improve the discovery experience for patrons; and better utilize technologies to maximize efficiency.

She joins NC LIVE from Tulane University Law Library where she currently serves as Acquisitions Librarian, with responsibilities that include managing the licensing of electronic resources, vendor relations, and the materials budget. She gained experience as a Reference and Instruction Librarian at Grafton Library, Mary Baldwin College, where she designed and taught course-integrated instruction sessions and workshops and initiated outreach projects. Ruswick also served as Librarian for the University of Virginia’s Semester at Sea.

While pursuing her graduate studies, Ruswick was a Library Associate in the Special Collections Research Center at the NCSU Libraries and was a volunteer Community Workshop Series Instructor for the Chapel Hill Public Library. She holds the Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in History and Music from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Ruswick is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
