Adebola Fabiku named Department Head of Access Services

image of Adebola FabikuAdebola Fabiku joined the NC State University Libraries as Department Head, Access Services on March 29, 2021.

In this position, Fabiku will lead and manage the Access Services department, including the Ask Us service points, which provide circulation, textbooks, course reserves, and technology lending services in both the D. H. Hill Jr. and Hunt Libraries. Access Services also provides interlibrary loan and chat/short reference services, and its staff operate and ensure safety and security in the two main libraries whenever they are open.

In her previous role as Interim Co-Director, Access Services at the University of Washington, Seattle, Fabiku worked with colleagues to establish policies and priorities and to manage an Access Services department that spanned three campuses and 16 libraries. She assessed the use of library spaces and provided vision and guidance in adapting them to changing needs. Her career has also encompassed significant interlibrary loan, resource sharing, reference, and collections experience gained at institutions including Wheaton College, Columbia College, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Fabiku’s professional presentations include “Advocating for your Staff,” “Library Professionals as Proactive EDI Change Makers,” and “Enriching Your Wealth of Resources by Marketing Interlibrary Loan.” She was selected as an Association of Research Libraries Leadership and Career Development Program Fellow and as a Resource Sharing & Fulfillment Mentorship Pilot Program Mentee by the Orbis Cascade Alliance. Fabiku holds the Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the Bachelor of Science in Journalism from that institution.
