NCSU, Office of Public Affairs, News Services Records now fully processed

The North Carolina State University, Office of Public Affairs, News Services Records have recently been processed, with the new and improved collection guide available here:  /findingaids/ua014_011 .  This guide can be used to request files that may be of interest to researchers of University History, especially those wanting to learn more about faculty and staff members past and present, campus units and buildings, and past current events around campus.

The News Services Division uses a wide variety of methods and media to promote NC State University on the local, national, and international levels; so the collection includes press releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and university reports and publications.  It includes faculty/staff files, with press releases documenting significant publications, lectures, or honoraries that a faculty or staff member may have received.  It also includes a good number of photographs and slides of campus events, buildings, individual Colleges, and faculty and staff members.

Want to check out the details of President Bill Clinton’s visit to campus in 1992? Get the story on Free Expression Tunnel Graffiti in 2004?  Investigate what NC State did for Hurricane Katrina relief in 2005?  Peruse some photos of the College of Engineering, from 1920 to 1990?  The News Services Records cover this whole range of topics and many, many more.

As with any of our archival collections, materials can be requested and brought over for viewing in the Special Collections Reading Room.  Just use this form to request files that may help illuminate University history: /scrc/request

Special thanks to Liz Bell and Flora Blackley in the Acquisitions & Discovery Department, NCSU Libraries, for processing this collection.
