Morris, Alpi paper honored by Medical Library Association; Alpi authors two more

Kris Alpi and student assistant Elizabeth Morris won third-place in the Research Paper category for “Attracting Researchers through Sharing Our Expertise: Content Analysis of Library Staff Listings and Librarian Web Pages,” a presentation at the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Medical Library Association Annual Meeting in Asheville, NC on 19 October 2015.

Kris is also a co-author on two new articles.

Alpi and C. Hoggan published “Recognizing the Value of Threshold Concepts: Application of a Conceptual Tool to Professional Students Learning to be Researchers” in Reference Librarian in February. The paper deals with threshold concepts and transformative learning in veterinary students participating in the Summer Research Scholars program. Dr. Hoggan is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development in the NC State College of Education.

Alpi., J. C. Brown, Jr., J. A. Neel, C. B. Grindem, K. Linder, and J. B. Harper co-authored “Scanning Technology Selection Impacts Acceptability and Usefulness of Image-Rich Content” for the Journal of the Medical Library Association . 2016 Jan;104(1):15-23. Drs. Brown, Neel, Grindem, and Linder were all faculty members in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the time the article was written. They collaborated with James Harper, formerly of Access and Delivery Services.
