For those of you who weren’t able to visit during Red and White Week, you can still take a tour of a campus highlight that will make you swell with Wolfpack pride!

The Libraries partnered with DELTA last year to produce an augmented reality tour of the Memorial Belltower. University Libraries Specialist Colin Keenan worked with DELTA’s Creative Director of New Media Development Mike Cuales and Multimedia Specialist Stephen Waddell to bring the 2020 Red and White Night, a traditionally in-person event, online. Methods including photogrammetry, 3D design, and large-scale exterior scanning were employed to produce an immersive, interactive experience of the beloved tower.

The result not only nods to the university’s past—the tower was originally built to honor the NC State alumni who lost their lives in World War I—but it also points to the future by embodying campus research interests in digital preservation and interactive multimedia design.

Plus it’s just a fun, visually stunning AR experience—take the tour today!
