Donors bolstered the Libraries’ support of student success and affordable education with 336 gifts on the Day of Giving—a 46% increase from last year's previous-record total—that added up to over $1.8 million. Thank you, donors!
"We are so grateful to our donors for their support on Day of Giving, along with their year-round generosity,” says Greg Raschke, Senior Vice Provost and Director of Libraries. “The Libraries is NC State's competitive advantage, and we could not play that role for students and researchers without the giving of our wonderful donors."
Major gifts established four new Libraries endowments:
Donors also supported a wide variety of the Libraries’ services and programs. Retired faculty member David Danehower created the Matthew and Sarah Alt-Textbook Support Fund to help students and faculty achieve equitable education. Supporters Christina and Matthew Kuhl and Jennifer and Bill Van Lear demonstrated their commitment to giving students a competitive edge by leveraging unrestricted gifts to support students.
“This Day of Giving beautifully illustrated the commitment of the entire Pack community to ensuring access to a great NC State education for students now and in the future,” says Tim Edelen, Associate Director of Libraries Development.
Gifts created three new Libraries Student Scholarships for our student workers:
Read about some of this year’s 18 Libraries Student Scholarship awardees like Tierra Williamson, who plans to use applied math for better meteorology, Ire Debayo-Doherty, who hopes to break barriers for women in the computer science field, and Vishal Gogusetti, whose interests in international relations may lead him into diplomatic or intelligence work.
And our student scholarships often go beyond financial support. Read more about how scholarship awardees have built lasting relationships with Libraries donors through our annual Donors & Scholars event here.
