From community gaming events to immersive campus history exhibits to snuggly therapy dogs to Packapalooza itself—you need to visit the Libraries a lot during Wolfpack Welcome Week to start this fall semester, August 21-26.

Here’s the day-by-day schedule of great Libraries events this week:

Monday, Aug. 21
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Meet the Libraries and the Academic Success Center, Hill Library Ask Us lobby. The Libraries and the Academic Success Center will be tabling in the lobby of the Hill Library. Stop by to say hello and ask any questions about tutoring, textbook lending, study groups, tech lending, and more. Give the Academic Wheel of Success a spin for a prize and pick up some library stickers.

2:00-3:00 p.m.Paws for a Break, Veterinary Medicine Library service desk. Take a break from the bustle of the start of the semester to pet some dogs!

Tuesday, Aug 22
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Meet the Libraries and the Academic Success Center, Hill Library Ask Us lobby.

12:00-1:30 p.m.Pause for Paws, Hill Library Fishbowl Forum. Join Prevention Services at Hill Library for a therapy dog event, "Pause for Paws" designed to help students find comfort, relieve stress, and promote well-being during the demanding academic season. Certified therapy dogs from Canines for Service will be visiting the library to offer their calming presence and friendly interactions to support you in your studies.

1:00-5:00 p.m.Immersive Highlights in University History Exhibit, Hill Library Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery. In celebration of Wolfpack Welcome Week, the NC State University Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center has curated a timeline exhibit that features milestones in campus history from the University Archives. Curated by Todd Kosmerick (University Archivist) and Taylor Wolford (Special Collections Librarian), the exhibit includes events and images that document the formation of the university and beyond.

Wednesday, Aug., 23
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Meet the Libraries and the Academic Success Center, Hill Library Ask Us lobby.

1:00-5:00 p.m.Immersive Highlights in University History Exhibit, Hill Library Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery.

3:00-5:00 p.m.Creative Journaling, Hill Library Fishbowl Forum. Join us for some creative journaling! Choose the purpose for your journal—art, writing, organizing, gratitude, etc.—and put together the papers and inserts that work for you. We will coil bind them using old book covers that you can customize or leave as-is. Once you’ve created your journal, we will spend time filling them using scrapbook paper, stickers, washi tape, markers, and more to create a mixed media masterpiece. This will be a continued series throughout the semester for you to continue working on your journal. All materials will be provided.

Thursday, Aug. 24
11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.Meet the Libraries and the Academic Success Center, Hill Library Ask Us lobby.

1:00-5:00 p.m.Immersive Highlights in University History Exhibit, Hill Library Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery.

3:00-6:00 p.m.Heroes of Hyrule, Hill Library Fishbowl Forum. Join us for an exciting event designed exclusively for fans of the popular game, "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom." Whether you're a seasoned player or just beginning your adventure, this event is the perfect opportunity to come together, share experiences, and revel in the joy of gaming. Participants can bring their own Nintendo Switch consoles and copies of "Tears of the Kingdom" or utilize the switches and games provided by Libraries. Set up your station, team up with fellow gamers, and embark on epic quests together. Share your knowledge and learn from others tips and tricks. Use this opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who share your love for "Tears of the Kingdom” while enjoying a break from class!

Friday, Aug. 25
1:00-5:00 p.m.Immersive Highlights in University History Exhibit, Hill Library Cyma Rubin Visualization Gallery.

5:00-9:00 p.m.Femme Game Night, Hunt Library Game Lab. Join us for an evening of games, pizza, community, and fun! 

Femme Game Night is part of the Femme Space series, which aims to open up traditionally male-dominated or male-centric activities and spaces to women and those who identify as feminine or nonbinary and their allies. The series includes gaming sessions, technology and media/music creation/demos, and a variety of making opportunities, all in a fun and welcoming atmosphere of sharing and community building.

Saturday, Aug 26
2:00-10:00 p.m.Packapalooza, Hillsborough Street in front of the Hill Library. Visit the Libraries tent for all sorts of giveaways and information, including postcards featuring images from the University Archives. Write a postcard to a friend or family member anywhere in the world, and we will mail it for you!
