The Libraries was recognized with a Chancellor’s Creating Community Award at the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity’s 18th annual Recognizing Excellence in Diversity (RED) Event. The award for “Outstanding College/Unit/Organization” was accepted by the Libraries’ Greg Raschke, Nellie Maurer, Tarida Anantachai, Jennifer Garrett, and Troy Hurteau.
The RED Event honors and celebrates the exceptional accomplishments and contributions of outstanding faculty, staff, students, colleges, student organizations and alumni in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, belonging and well-being throughout the 2023-24 academic year.
“It was a real honor to stand up for the photo with Nellie, Tarida, and Jennifer—the three colleagues who lead our programs and most deserve that recognition,” Raschke wrote in an email to staff. “Having Troy there also helped reinforce the message that Nellie, Tarida, and Jennifer always emphasize: that it takes many contributors across an organization to make meaningful progress.”
"This award truly represents the deep commitment and work of so many across our entire organization,” says Jennifer Garrett, Associate Director for Organizational Design, Culture, & Talent. “The Libraries' long-standing efforts on belonging, wellbeing, accessibility, and inclusive talent management are integral to who we and this university are. I am inspired daily by the creativity, dedication, and collective impact of my colleagues, and we are so honored to accept the Chancellor's Creating Community Award for Outstanding Unit on their behalf."
