The NC State University Libraries now provides access to several primary sources on broad topics of culture, literature, and the arts, including materials such as magazine archives, cookbooks, audio recordings, and zines.
Rolling Stone Archive contains issues from launch in 1967 to the present day. Not only a major touchstone of music and media journalism, Rolling Stone captured and continues to reflect the wider cultural and political lives of young adults, and is available through ProQuest.
From cookbooks to government reports to films, Food and Drink in History explores themes such as food and identity, food and gender, and activism, sourced from across the globe. The bulk of material ranges from the sixteenth century to the early twenty-first century, with a notable exception of rare Apicius cookbooks from as early as the ninth century.
1980’s Culture and Society covers many historical topics of the decade: nuclear threat, AIDs, conservatism, and more. Photographs, zines, and government policy papers highlight the subcultures and activist movements of the decade.
Thousands of audio recordings, interviews, films, and ephemera make up Ethnomusicology: Global Field Recordings, a collection on the cultural study of music. An addition to audio, a rich image gallery depicts musicians from across the globe, sheet music, and instruments.
These collections are only a few of the newly available resources. See below to access all the new content.
