Biographical/historical note

The American Indian Advisory Council has existed since at least 2015. The Council seeks to develop and strengthen partnerships between NC State Alumni and the American Indian tribes in North Carolina and promote mutual cooperation. The Council is both an internal working group and an external advisory committee made up of students, faculty, staff, administrators, tribal and community leaders.

As a land grant university, NC State seeks to provide quality education to all citizens of North Carolina. The Council is convened by the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity to address the culturally relevant needs of current and future American Indian students at NC State and to promote the education and self-determination of American Indian tribal communities. The ultimate goal is to make NC State the university of choice for the original people of North Carolina (https://diversity.ncsu.edu/diversity-committees/, accessed 5/9/2024).
