The North Carolina State University Teaching Effectiveness and Evaluation Committee was established in June 1984 by the Chancellor of North Carolina State University. The committee reported to the Provost and had a broad range of responsibilities that included examining the effectiveness of current techniques of faculty evaluation, identifying and making recommendations on all factors affecting teaching effectiveness, collecting and disseminating information regarding experimental programs and the successes and failures of different methods of instruction, and evaluating the effectiveness of utilizing graduate students as teachers.
