The Collection Management Department built and managed the NC State University Libraries' collections in support of campus research and instructional needs. Among the department's responsibilities were selecting books, journals, electronic resources, and media; developing collection policies; and reporting collections data for reviews and accreditation. In 2016, Collection Management merged with Research and Information Services to become Collections and Research Strategy.
