The Albert Alexander Banadyga check and newsclipping consists of a check created on Red Cross stationery by Banadyga when he was hospitalized in Denizes, England in 1944 to recuperate from a wound. The check was written to pay his alumni dues at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (now North Carolina State University). It was honored by his bank, First Citizens Bank and Trust Company, in Burgaw, N.C. The newsclipping contains an article about Banadyga's roommate Dudley Robbins. This 1997 article talks about Robbins's experiences as a Nazi prisoner of war in 1944. Albert Alexander Banadyga (1921 - 2000) began his professional career at North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering in 1949 as the manager of the N.C. State College Experiment Station's vegetable test farm near Faison, N.C. In 1953, he became an extension horticultural specialist, placed in charge of the State College's horticultural work. The collection contains two commissions presented to Harlan Craig Brown for the ranks of Captain and Major in the United States Army Officers' Reserve Corps, in 1952 and 1953, respectively. Also included are typescripts of speeches by Brown, personal correspondence, militray medals and cards, and class reunion letter and photographs. Harlan Brown began his career at the NC State University library in 1936, where he later served as Libraries Director. From 1942 to 1946, Brown took a leave of absence to serve in World War II as an officer. The Roy Samuel Ingle Papers, 1940-1985, contains correspondence and personal memorabilia related to Ingle's life as a student at North Carolina State College (later University), his service in the United State Army Air Corps during World War II, and his experience as a geological engineer. Also in the collection are Ingle's student pilot logbooks, ration books from World War II, photographs, and memoirs. Roy Samuel Ingle was born in 1918 in Statesville, Iredell County, North Carolina.
