In 2012, North Carolina State University students voted in Robert Andrew “Andy” Walsh as their ninety-fourth student body president. He served in the position from 2012 to 2013. Previously he served in the Student Senate. Walsh graduated from NC State in 2013. The J. Robert Cooke Papers contain a 1959 campaign button from Bob Cooke's campaign for student government vice president at NC State College, a 2013 video recording of an oral history interview in which Cooke recalls his life and career, and a 2017 listing of Cooke's publications and unpublished manuscripts and papers, and the Preface to the Directory of The Internet-First University Press, with cover letter, 2019. There are also historical materials compiled in 2022 on the occasion of Student Governments' Centennial. James Robert "Bob" Cooke served as vice president (1959-1960) and president (1960-1961) of Student Government at NC State College. He was active in numerous campus organizations such as Alpha Zeta, the College Union, and the Rules Committee. He graduated from NC State in 1961. In 1966 he began teaching at Cornell University. The Kanton T. Reynolds Papers contain name tags and business cards from student government, a Technician newspaper, photographs from Reynolds' time as student government Chief Justice, and student government projects and papers. Subjects include preventing destructive student celebrations, NC State University basketball, and student government goals. Also included in this collection are a few items from Tasha Youngblood, Student Body Treasurer. Materials range from 1992 to 1995 with several undated items. Kanton T. Reynolds graduated from North Carolina State University in 1995 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. As a student, he ran unopposed and won the position of Chief Justice for student government in the 1994 election. He was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Reynolds went on to earn a Masters of Industrial Engineering and Business Administration in 1997 and 2005. He then received his Ph.D. from North Carolina A&T University in 2014. After spending twenty years in the corporate realm, Dr. Reynolds came back to NC State University as the Director of Undergraduate Programs for the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2017. Less

Records of the North Carolina State University Faculty Committee on Student Government range from 1927 to 1958, although records from the 1920s are limited to a Tau Beta Pi council bulletin and a booklet on codes of conduct at North Carolina State College (later North Carolina State University). The bulk of the collection is from the mid 1940s-1950s. Included are some documents sent from the student council to the faculty, student council booklets delineating the rules of student conduct and the punishments for failing to follow said rules. Also included is information on the adoption of the honor system at North Carolina State College and inquiries from other universities interested in the newly adopted policy. William Norwood Hicks, the first head of the NC State College Department of Philosophy and Religion and a student leader during his time at State College figures prominently in this collection. A second box includes portfolios containing information on the evolution and development of the campus government and honor system, as well as drafts of the constitution and by-laws proposed by the organization. Student government began at North Carolina State College in 1921 on October 15th. The student government worked in tandem with elected faculty members as part of the campus government. Later, it seems that a separate student government, including a student body president and governing committees was formed. The Faculty Committee on Student Government appears to be a means of including faculty involvement and input in the governance of the student body by its peers. Many of the records regard the establishment and use of the honor system in relation to student government, a then-innovative plan that seems to have been emulated by other universities. Rules regarding academic honesty and proper student behavior were primary concerns of the student government and had particular relevance for educators at the University. Included in the records are booklets outlining the rules, both proposed and in place, governing the student body, as well as notes on various documents made by faculty members, and documents relating to the student council.
