Holtzman for a one-page ad in the Raleigh News and Observer expressing sorrow at the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. and hope that his ideals would be accepted; a copy of the ad; lists of contributors; a letter about disposition of funds remaining after publication of memorial statement in News and Observer and the Carolinian; letters sending surplus funds to the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; a letter of acknowledgement from Ralph David Abernathy, president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; and a few related items. Block was a member of the faculty of North Carolina State University in Political Science and Public Administration. He was chair of the university's Faculty Senate in 1964-1965. The William Ludwig Baumgarten Papers consist of photographs and student works. The photographs are black and white prints dating from the 1930s, showing residences, stores, schools, and restaurants in Vienna and perhaps elsewhere in Europe, presumably designed by Baumgarten.Student works include illustrated student papers, as well as a blank exam, from classes in the history of architecture Baumgarten taught at the at the North Carolina State College of Agriculture and Engineering (later North Carolina State University) School of Design in the 1950s. William Ludwig Baumgarten (1885-1959), a native of Austria and graduate of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, was a renowned architect in Europe before he immigrated to the United States.
