This collection contains meeting minutes and reports from the Triangle Greenways Council Board, bylaws of the organization, project proposals, information about properties held by the organization, Triangle Greenways Council newsletters, and documents on related organizations like the Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Also included are documents and other materials on greenways in North Carolina and around the United States. Materials date from 1974 to 2023. The Triangle Greenways Council is a volunteer organization dedicated to expanding and promoting the use of greenways in the Triangle Region of North Carolina. Primarily, the Council acquires private and public land through donations and grant-funded purchases for new greenway spaces, to date acquiring and preserving over 750 acres of undeveloped land. Working closely with local municipalities and governments, the Council helps with the placement of new trails and greenway facilities. The Council also implements public service projects, and continues to educate communities through outreach programs like seminars and festivals.
