The Geoffrey Duart McLean Landscape Architecture Photographs and Drawings includes digital files that are scans of original drawings, photographic prints, and slides. The scans were done in 2012; the original photographs date from 1963-circa 1990. These images show McLean's projects on the North Carolina State University campus and Raleigh's Eastgate Park. McLean's work for landscape architect Lewis Clarke and architect A. G. Odell is also included. Additional unprocessed materials (drawings, slides, etc.) have also been added that document McLean's landscape architecture projects. Geoffrey McLean graduated from the North Carolina State University School of Design in 1969 with a degree in landscape architecture. He studied under noted landscape architect Lewis Clarke. His firm, Geoffrey McLean & Company, commenced business in 1971. In addition to being a licensed landscape architect, McLean is also a professional engineer. He has been a member of the Wake County Planning Board and Board of Supervisors for the Wake County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was president of the North Carolina Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects from 1979 to 1981. Less

The Mann Family Papers contain correspondence, church bulletins, scrapbooks, newsclippings, magazine articles, photographs, brochures, programs, artifacts, and other materials regarding Carroll Mann Sr., Carroll Mann Jr., and Carroll Mann III. There are also documents on Mann Hall and the Memorial Bell Tower on the North Carolina State University campus. The Mann family has had a long association with North Carolina State University. Carroll Lamb Mann, Sr. (1877-1961), graduated from the college in 1899, and was on the civil engineering faculty there from 1901 to 1948. Carroll Lamb Mann, Jr. (1911-1999), graduated from NC State in 1932, and he returned to NC State as a professor of civil engineering in 1953. He later chaired the college's Committee on Buildings and Grounds, directed the Facilities Planning Division, and led the college safety division. Carroll Lamb Mann III (1934-2013) graduated from NC State in 1959 with a BS in zoology. He was a practicing neurosurgeon in Raleigh, NC, for 26 years, and he was an avid fisher and hunter. Less

The NC State University Libraries Oral Histories about the James B. Hunt Jr. Library (2008-2015) contains oral history interviews on the design and construction of the Hunt Library. The people interviewed were staff from the NC State University Libraries, the University Architect from NC State University, and designers from the architectural firms. NC State University Libraries Special Collections Research Center staff conducted the interviews. Interviews conducted in 2008 and 2009 exist only in audio format (WAV); those from 2015 in video and audio formats (MOV and WAV). Written transcripts (PDF format) also exist for these interviews. The North Carolina State University, Division of Student Affairs, University Student Center Records contain files documenting the activities of the Center, including the administrative and departmental transactions and the events and services which occured there, ranging in date from 1941 to 2004. Included are correspondence and memorandums, meeting minutes and agendas, budgetary and financial information, reports, rules and policies, departmental constitutions and bylaws, schedules, event and activity proposals, other administrative papers, newspaper clippings, booklets, flyers, pamphlets, programs, calendars, invitations, brochures, other promotional and publicity materials, and the scrapbooks and loose materials removed from them. Also included are archiveed versions of the web site of North Carolina State University’s Student Center. The University Student Center of North Carolina State University is a student organization established to give students and other community members a centralized location on campus which provides essential facilities, programs, and services. It was established with the purpose of enriching students' lives by teaching them social and recreational skills, and to provide them with the opportunity of extracurricular activity without having to leave campus. The Centennial Campus Records document the development of Centennial Campus from the initial 1984 land allocation through its twentieth anniversary celebration, with the bulk of the content focused on the late 1980s and early 1990s. Containing correspondence, proposals, reports, articles, brochures, clippings, electronic images, and other materials, the items discuss general design and development issues, the campus's administrative structure, the master developer (Carley Capital Group), Centennial Campus partners, the natural environment, infrastructure, facilities construction, and traffic. Materials range in date from 1974 to 2011. Between 1984 and 1985 Governor James B. Hunt, Jr. and Governor James G. Martin transferred over 800 acres of state land to North Carolina State University. The university settled on the idea of creating Centennial Campus, a "technopolis" where university units, governmental entities, and private industry could share facilities and collaborate on projects. From 1988 to 2000 Claude E. McKinney served as coordinator of Centennial Campus and shaped its development. Since beginning its operation, the campus has attracted a variety of prominent tenants, including ABB, Red Hat, Inc., and the National Weather Service and it has become home to the College of Textiles and the College of Engineering. In 1960 North Carolina State University established what was formerly known as the Campus Planning Office, which updated the 1958 plan. The Campus Planning Office was renamed the Design and Construction Services Department, located under the authority of the Facilities Division in the Office of Finance and Administration. This collection contains blueprints, drawings, notes, sketches, memoranda, surveys, master plans, and photographic slides, prints, and negatives relating to projects and initiatives undertaken by the Office of Campus Planning and Strategic Investment (formerly the Office of the University Architect). The majority of materials correspond to Edwin F. Harris’s tenure as Campus Planning Consultant, beginning in 1966, and later as director of Facilities Planning Division, a title which eventually became University Architect. However, the collection includes materials that pre-date Harris, as well as more recent additions to the collection. The University Archives contains architectural plans, drawings, and other materials for university buildings; however, federal and state law restricts access to certain types of documents in these categories. The Special Collections Research Center of the NC State University Libraries will handle access requests for those materials on a case-by-case basis, with the intention of providing as much access as possible to researchers. To support the university’s mission and goals, the Office of Campus Planning and Strategic Investment leads campus master planning, capital planning, space planning, campus design, and facilities data management efforts, which include the building floor plans, campus maps, GIS, and plan library. Materials range in date from 1887 to 2023. The records also include the Office of Finance and Administration website. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration at North Carolina State University was formerly known as Bursar, Treasurer, Controller, and Business Manager. The mission statement of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration is "By stewarding financial assets, optimizing physical resources and investing in human capital, we will work with university constituencies to position NC State as a premier land grant university and world-class institution." As of 2020, the Office consists of the following units: Budget and Resource Management, Campus Enterprises, Environmental Health and Public Safety,Facilities, Finance, Human Resources, and Real Estate and Development.
