The Yates Mill Associates Records contain correspondence, board of director and executive committee files, newsletters, brochures, architectural drawings, photographs, slides, videos, one cassette tape, and other items related to the Yates Mill Associates Records. Materials range in date from approximately 1946 to 2016. Yates Mill Associates, Inc. was formed in 1989. Its mission was to restore, preserve, and operate the mill. Yates Mill Associates developed partnerships with Wake County and North Carolina State University, the mill owner and guardian, to develop a park around this significant relic. This collection contains architectural drawings of Cameron Village construction and renovations of various shops at Cameron Village. It also includes maps of Cameron Village and master plans for renovations. Most of these drawings were produced by York Properties from 1952-2013. The York family has been involved with the creation and evolution of Cameron Village, now known as the Village District, since its inception in 1949. J.W. York and R. A. Bryan purchased 158 acres of land in 1947 and created a planned residential subdivision with shopping services, apartments, and housing. They named it the Cameron Vilage Shopping Center in 1949.
